Uterine Cramps During Exercise
Provided that you have a uterus, have you ever experienced cramps during aerobic exercise such as running?
My sister and I both have but a Google search turns up nothing.
Just out of curiosity, have you ever experienced this (not during menstruation)? Does anyone know why this would happen given that it is a different type of muscle compared to voluntary muscles?

In the days leading up to my period I tend to get menstrual-like cramps that are brought on by exercise. Other than that, no, sorry.
I think I have had that happen before, I'm not sure why it happens though.
i get that all the time. the only thing i can think of is that you are constantly tightening your ab muscles, and that may push on your uterus. it could hurt cuz of that. also, after sex i get cramps, and thats after you use your muscles. i think its the same thing, where you may not use those muscles often and when you do it feels crampish. or, it's just the ab muscles over the uterus and they just feel like cramps
If you aren't breathing properly during exercise or are tightening your abs and diaphragm when you run, which is natural, that can press on your uterus.
However, this also could be an indication of uterine cysts, which can cause pain during exercise and strenuous activity before they normally would in everyday life. I would maybe move up your annual exam if you haven't had one recently and have a gyno check it out.
lol... ok... glad to know this is directly asking the ladies and not the dudes...
@mixedbabiesrock - Yikes! It doesn't happen all that often for me thankfully. I have to visit the gyno twice as often anyway because I've had an irregular cycle. Do you know if she'd just be able to tell from the usual pelvic exam or do I need to specifically mention this to her?
All the time, it's a big problem for me :-p
Hmm, maybe once in a blue moon I think I actually have, I'm not sure what that signifies or what causes it tho.
yes, same here. but it's still a mystery to me too :\
post again
maybe you're getting air in through your vagina, creating air bubbles in your uterus? happened to me before. it really hurts.
